Kaylin Bromwley
NACOGDOCHES, TX (KSLA) - A Nacgodoches toddler is dead after fighting for her life for several days in a Shreveport hospital. Authorities say Kaylin Bromley was a victim of child abuse.
She was transported to Schumpert Medical Center on Monday night with blunt injuries to the head and neck. Thursday night she was removed from life support.
Her mother's boyfriend, Tyrone Roberts, is in jail in Nacogdoches on first degree felony charges of injury to a child. Roberts originally told authorities the little girl fell off a horse.
Doctors and investigators disagree.
"There's a possibility that those charges will be upgraded and could include the possibility of capital murder because of her age, being under six years of age," says Nacogdoches County Sheriff Thomas Kerss.

A young girl, suspected to be a victim of child abuse, was removed from life support Thursday afternoon and died at Schumpert Hospital in Louisiana, according to Sheriff Thomas Kerss. Close family friends identify the child as Kaylin Kye Bromley, 3, of Nacogdoches.
The child was transported to Lousiana with blunt injuries to the head and neck Monday night. Tyrone Roberts, 37, remains in jail for first degree felony charges of injury to a chil
d. He was a boyfriend of the child's mother. Roberts first told authorities the little girl fell off a horse. Doctors who can recognize the signs of child abuse disagree with Robert's story. So did the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Department.
"We are making arrangements to have the child's transferred to Texas for an autopsy," said Kerss. Roberts charges will remain as they are. However, charges can be upgraded by a Nacogdoches County Grand Jury after the evidence is presented. Kerss says arrangements are also being made to interview the mother more closely.
The child's father is estranged from Kaylin's mother, but rode with the child in the ambulance, according to friends. An account has been set up at Region's Bank, titled Kaylin's Special Fund to help with medical and funeral expenses.
