On September 21, 2007 Emily Haddock stayed home sick from school. Shortly after 10:27 a.m. the back door of the Haddock home was kicked in. What happened after that is every parents worst nightmare.
Five black teens broke into the Haddock home and brutally beat and then shot Emily to death.
The five were eventually all arrested and are as follows:

Emily's obituary read as follows:
Miss Emily Elizabeth Haddock, 12, of Fayetteville, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, in her home.
Emily was a seventh-grade student at New Century Middle School in Cameron. She attended First Baptist Church of Hope Mills. Emily enjoyed horseback riding, band at school, karaoke and swimming.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, in First Baptist Church of Hope Mills, 4621 Cameron Road, Hope Mills, with the Revs. Mike Sowers and Jim Everette officiating. Burial will be in McFayden family cemetery on U.S. 301 South, Fayetteville.
Emily is survived by her parents, Joy Scott and Jeff Haddock of the home; brother, Ryan Haddock of the home; paternal grandparents, Linda and Bobby Haddock of Fayetteville; maternal grandmother, Catherine Scott of Fayetteville; uncle, Jerry Scott and wife Jenny of Hope Mills; aunt, Robin Haddock of Fayetteville; and cousins, Joshua and Julia Scott, and Joseph Ingle. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Bill Scott.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Emily Elizabeth Haddock Memorial Fund, c/o New Century Bank, 700 W. Cumberland St., Dunn, NC 28334.
